So, when is my intention supposed to happen?
feng shui, magic and faith
One of the things that draws people into feng shui is the possibility of manifesting your desires beyond your wildest dreams.
Much of the content on social media about feng shui is about the remarkable results that can come to those who activate the energy in their homes:
The beefy check in the mail you weren’t expecting
The sudden meet-cute with the love of your life
The workshop for your business that quickly sells out
The phone call that gives you your big break
Energy work is real.
It’s powerful.
It will amaze you.
And…we can dive into the full(er), often unspoken picture here.
🌀 What really happens after you set your intention?
🌀 And how can you stay sane while you wait?
How Feng Shui helps you manifest
Every single thing in your home has energy.
Every part of your home corresponds to a part of your life.
Your home is a mirror for your life and your experience.
When you activate the energy of your home with your intention (i.e., what you want to create) - through clearing, using elements and placements - you infuse your space with your essence and your desire.
In this process of setting an intention, you visualize what you want (e.g., a partner, buckets of cash, healing for an illness), you feel it, you claim it and you seal it in your space.
From that day forward, you honor your intention by honoring that physical space (e.g., watering a plant, lighting an incense, simply taking a daily deep breath there every morning).
With this, you start an energy exchange, a sacred dance with your space - as it becomes your ally.
It is a direct and powerful message to the Universe calling in what you want.
Hello, impatience
There are times when you set an intention and two weeks later - boom! It’s here.
And there are times when you wait, and wait, and wait for the thing you wanted.
Impatience kicks in.
Doubt makes an appearance.
As doubt and impatience start to take the place of what was once joyful desire - you may find yourself frustrated and angry declaring that it didn’t work.
We’ve all been there.
And, you do have a choice about how you interpret these results (or lack thereof).
You can recognize them as simply information.
It is actually an invitation to go even deeper.
Your (actual) job
As with any manifestation work or magical practice - the work really shows up after the intention is set.
The truth is that faith is always the most powerful magic.
If you’ve set an intention and fully trust it with your whole heart then there should be no room for doubt, right?
The doubt and impatience floods in like a cloud, making it harder for your desire to reach you.
In order to magnetize what you want - it needs a clear channel to come to you, so that you can actually receive it and still be in alignment with it.
Your job?
You get to continue to get out of your head about it, show up, open your heart, lean in, be in your practice, trust and believe that what you want will come to you.
The inconvenient bit
I will be the first one to admit this advice is 1,000x easier said than done.
There are many, many, many times in my life that I’ve been there.
I’ve manifested remarkable things through intentions I set in my home using feng shui - things that felt miraculous and were bigger and more beautiful than anything I could have imagined.
And, I’ve also wanted many others that didn’t come when I wanted them to and didn’t come in the way I wanted them to come.
The inconvenient bit is that your home is a mirror that will reflect back to you exactly where you are, what you need, and what you are ready for.
When you’re feeling impatient and wondering why the cash or the lover haven’t come in yet - you may be missing messages about what you actually need right now that will help you get on your way to the cash or the lover.
You may also be receiving a message of redirection, inviting you into other priorities or to recognize wounds that need healing. For example, this season of your life may be asking you to focus on your family and home and to trust that everything will be provided for - while you’re busy desperately asking for the next big business idea to launch. (cut to me all of 2022)
Or, if this intention still feels true to you now, you may simply need to refresh it. Try it again, and this time - vow to listen to the signs and messages and be willing to see what may be blocking you from it in the first place.
The new refreshed intention could be:
“My eyes and my mind are open. I am ready to recognize what is blocking me from (fill in with your desire).”
The ultimate purpose
There’s a bigger purpose to make clear here.
As fun as manifestation is - the purpose of feng shui is to exist in sacred harmony with your environment and within yourself.
In my practice, I use this work to connect to my divine team - my ancestors, guides and angels. I use it to honor my intuitive and psychic gifts. Through feng shui I remember that I am divine and all things around me are divine. I feel more grounded, present, aligned, and connected to my divine purpose.
When you’re able to zoom out and really start to grasp this - even a little bit - manifestation feels like a fun, playful bonus, and far from the ultimate point.
Living in deep connection to the divine becomes its own reward and it lends enormous perspective to everything you want.
The reframe
Being in the practice of feng shui on a regular basis and deciding to develop a sacred relationship with your home will unlock the intuitive wisdom that lives in you. It is a gift you can carry for the rest of your life and pass on to future generations.
From this place of grounded faith, play, and magic - calling in what you want flows with ease, you are more open to listening to the messages (even when they’re inconvenient or difficult to hear).
You are less attached to specific outcomes and more trusting of your path.
The urgency starts to melts away.
And you can create a clear path to your harmonious divine connection, and creating what you want - surrounded by a home that loves you back and holds you through all of your chapters.
